A 14-year-old girl from Aurora who last month told police she was assaulted by a man faces false report charges.
On Nov. 12, police responded to a call about a missing youth in the Wellington Street West and Community Centre Lane area of Aurora at about 5:40 p.m.
Several police officers searched the area, but couldn’t find anyone.
A short while later, one of the girl’s friends called to say she was at a house nearby.
When police arrived, she told them she was assaulted by a man and treated for minor injuries.
Following an investigation police couldn’t find a suspect and then realized it was a false report.
The girl faces charges of public mischief and will be back in court Jan. 6.”
