Are you spreading the news?

Posted by auroracitizen on September 7, 2008

Since this blog started in late August, there have already been 100’s of visitors. It has started to become a gathering place for the people of Aurora. We are excited by the many comments and the range of issues and opinions.

As our Mission Statement says, It is intended to stimulate and facilitate a community-based conversation about what you like, don’t like and would like to see changed for the better.

The conversation has started, but it will only become a powerful voice in the community once it has broad-based readership. Readership increases daily, but we need your help.

Please take a moment today to forward this post to other interested Aurorans inviting them to check out the site. It’s quick and easy when you use the envelop icon immediately below. Plus you can include a personal message of your own.

Dear anonymous, please refrain from the derogative tone with your use of language such as “cluck cluck” etc. Our intention is to make this a respectful debate where all opinions are welcome and heard, without name calling.

If you cannot make you points in that respectful spirit, your future comments will not be published.

As an anonymous commentor, possibly you might also review your own comments and practice what you preach so virtuously. You seem to hold others to a different set of principles than you hold yourself to.

If you are so high and mighty why didn’t you post your name? Cluck, Cluck. Don’t throw stones at glass houses it might just bounce back and hit you in the face.

Yeah… I think it’s a great medium, and I wish I’d thought of it, but I didn’t. Thanks for the flattery though.

And what does it matter? Whoever thunk it up seems to have created a real buzz, and isn’t that what media is about?

Potshots indeed. I can appreciate all the anonymice (ha!) who comment.. because there’s nothing like being able to say what you think without bringing attention to yourself – but if you believe it what you’re saying, sign your name. Or not. That’s the beauty of this!

Almost as committed as Phyllis Morris and Evelina MacEachern, one supposes.

I must disabuse you of the notion that Evelyn Buck and Heather Sisman are behind this blog – they are not.

But keep trying (taking potshots, that is).

Could it be Evelyn Buck and Heather Sisman, branching out as it were. They are a VERY committed couple, indeed.

I think that the person who thinks Evelyn is be hind this blog need to think seriously about that statement. Do you really think that Evelyn would hide behind anonymous!! Think about it. Maybe it’s Phyllis. After all this is her kind of transparency!!

I have to agree with Lamont – “Only the Shadow Knows!”. Chicken has nothing to do with it. Instead of worrying about who’s ‘in charge’ – just share your thoughts. I think if the moderator had a specific political agenda, we’d see it here. Looking at the various posts/topics, there’s a little bit of everything. And there’s nothing wrong with a healthy, mutisided discussion.

I don’t think the Moderator needs to hide behind any anonymity at all… S/he is simply the moderator, and as long as s/he facilitates the discussions at hand, does it really matter who s/he is? I can’t help but think that if the moderator had a specific political agenda s/he would guide the posts in that same direction. (I would, if it were me.) Anonymity is a good thing in this case. Instead of worrying about who’s in charge – just say how you feel!

Don’t any of these “anonymous” critics of anonymity see the irony in remaining nameless themselves?!

    You gotta laugh…

    Anonymously Yours,

Who is “Aurora Citizen?” Another of Ron’s secret letter writers, too scared to show his/her face? Frankly, if you want to hide your identity, then you have no credibility. Is that you, Ron? Nigel? Bill? Evelyn? Cluck, cluck! What chickens to hide behind a cloak of anonymity.
